Obituary of Marguerite Olive Alexander

Alexander, Marguerite Olive (Scully) Mendon: On April 5, 2016 at age 94 she passed quietly in her sleep and now resides in heaven with her husband, Albert. She is survived by her children, Butch (Bonnie Bourne) Alexander, Joseph Alexander, Martha Alexander, Susan (the late Dominique) Janssen and her "other son", Larry Boyd; grandchildren, Jarod (Jacelyn) Alexander, Jeanette (Patrick) Snyder, Kristina Brown; great grandson, Logan Snyder; sisters-in-law, Mary Russ, Rae Alexander; and many other close and distant relatives. Marguerite had a full and happy life. Born in 1922 on a milk farm in Geneseo, she would witness the changing world - from kerosene lamps to cell phones, horse plows to bullet trains. She met Albert in high school, a war bride in 1945, they shared 60 years of marriage. She was active in St. Catherine's of Siena Parish, the local Home Bureau, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Mendon Firemen's Auxiliary, the Honeoye-Falls Senior Citizens, meeting and be-friending so many special people. If you knew her you loved her. She was kind, helpful and curious. She loved to travel, play bingo, make new friends and experience the unfamiliar. Marguerite will be remembered with much affection by her family, friends and we hope so many others she may have touched during her rich, fun, good life. We can only hope you may have known Marguerite and been touched by her kindness and love of life. Family and friends are invited to call at the Lucey-VanVoorhis Funeral Home (301 W. Main St., Victor) on FRIDAY (4/8/16) from 4-7 PM. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Catherine of Siena Church (26 Mendon Ionia Rd., Mendon) on SATURDAY (4/9/16) at 10 AM. Interment, Mendon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Benincasa Hospice, Mendon, NY in her memory.
