A Celebration of Joe's Life

Obituary of Joseph Dale Souder

Canandaigua: On November 27, 2016 at age 62. Survived by his loving wife, Mary Ellen Souder; 4 sons, Keith (Jen) Green, Kyle Green, Klint (Kate) Green & Joseph Michael Souder; many grandchildren; father, Joseph Henry (Evelyn) Souder; sister, Christine Souder; step-brother, Jim (Charlene) Stephanie; 7 brothers & sisters-in-law. Predeceased by his mother, Beverly Souder. My wonderful brother Joey Dale Souder has passed on. Leaving behind happy memories and a great loss of friendship to all who knew him. He had a fortunate childhood with a loving mother Beverly and father Joseph Henry. He was raised in a Lutheran household with values and a Love for God. Our Dad, Joe made sure he had all the toys young men wanted starting with a go cart, minibike, bicycles, snowmobiles, motorcycles and ATV. He started his hobby of trains at age 5 and had an American flyer. It developed into a lifelong hobby with his own train table set up. He is an honors graduate from Penfield High School year 1973. His aptitude for mathematics propelled his career into an apprenticeship program with Gleason Works. He loved his machinist position and worked with Gleasons for 34 years. He made friends toughout his lifetime, high school friends that he is still in contact with. Gleason work friends who gathered for lunch each month. He knew all of his neighbors where-ever he lived Fairport, Williamson, and Canandaigua. He always had a funny joke or story to tell. He has four sons, Joe Michael Souder of Syracuse, NY and three step sons with Mary Ellen Souder. I always told my brother that he deserved a woman who would love him for himself and who would touch his life and he found her in Mary Ellen. My life was definitely better with Joe in it. Joe was a loving kind, giving man. He would pick flowers along the roadside to give to me. One time we were stuck in traffic for hours and he sang the Brady Bunch song to me. Using my life story. It sure made the time go much faster. I admired Joe in the last 4 years. His love for life and positive attitude was what kept me going. Joe and I were able to do some traveling, with the help of my brother, Willie. My sister Jane and her husband, Kevin. Joe's sister Chris. Joe was great with my sons and my grandchildren and thought of them as his own. He was a true friend and neighbor. He would help anyone he could. Joe was barely able to walk and went to the neighbors and fixed their gutters. In the end Joe's life was validated by the people who knew him. I thought that was wonderful and we all should be more like that. Tell people that we love them and they made a difference in our lives. I loved Joe and I will miss him and his laughter that he kept until the very end. Joe loved his pug dog, Georgie, I laid in bed with him and told him he was very special and loved and his Georgie was waiting for him. My heart his broken and he did make a difference in my life and will be Forever in my heart. Family and friends are invited to gather, SATURDAY, 10:30-1 PM at Lucey-VanVoorhis Funeral Home (301 West Main Street, Victor) where Joe's Memorial Service will be celebrated at 1 PM. Interment, private. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Sands Cancer Center in Joe's memory.
