Obituary of Elizabeth McMahon Butler

Butler, Elizabeth (McMahon) “Betty” Passed away peacefully, April 11th 2017, on her mother’s and granddaughter’s birthday. Betty was born in her cobblestone house in Victor on March 5th, 1919 and remained a proud and active life-long Victor resident. She was also a life-long parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church where she was involved in every aspect of parish life. As a 1st grade religion teacher she touched many young lives in their journey with God. After raising her family, Betty served as the bookkeeper for the Town of Victor for 30 years and was affectionately dubbed their “Golden Girl”. Betty had many interests throughout her life: cards, shopping, doll making, quilting, and baking. Betty gave many years of service to the Victor Republican Committee. Her greatest role however, was that of a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Don Butler in 2012, and son-in-law John Crough. Survived by her children Kathy Crough, John (Darlene) Butler. Stephen (Caren) Butler, Mary (Steve) Howie, Liz (Ralph) Salinas, Jerry (Melissa) Butler, Jean (Rich) Lefebvre and Ralph Butler, 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, her sister Bernice Frame, and many nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to the staff at Thompson Hospital Continuing Care Skilled Transitional Unit. Family and friends are invited to call at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services of Victor (formerly Lucey-VanVoorhis) 301 West Main St. - Victor on MONDAY (4-17-17) from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Betty’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Patrick's Church (115 Maple Ave. - Victor) on TUESDAY (4-18-17) at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow the Mass in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
